Thursday Thirteen #2

Thirteen Things About Xmas in Florida:

1. There is no snow.

2. People compensate for that fact by putting fake snow around.

3. Fake snow at the base of palm trees looks stupid.

4. Santas dressed in surfer gear look like dirty old men.

5. The balmy weather allows for elaborate Christmas light displays. If a decoration can be
lit up and stuck on a lawn , it will be.

6. Inflatable snowmen and animated Santas are popular targets for thieves.

7. Their electrical cords are popular targets for possums and raccoons. "ZAP"

8. Baby Jesus has to be padlocked to his manger .

9. Xmas lights aren't taken down in January. Busy homeowners leave them up all year.

10. When a hurricane is coming those same homeowners forget about stocking up on
groceries and plywood. Instead, they run around removing their Xmas lights.

11. Being forced to listen to musical decorations 24 hours a day results in violence.

12. People actually give help to the less fortunate.

13. Peace, at least locally, seems possible.

Many similar things happen on this coast, too ... 'cept we get snow in our local mountains causing parents to take their kids out of school so that they can sit in traffic all day, flop around in filthy snow for ten minutes (Mooommmm ... We're FREEZING!), and then sit in commuter traffic for three hours to get home.

We have lazy light-removers, too ... Have you noticed that the ugliest house looks "pretty" when it's covered in twinkle lights?

Happy New Year, Muffin!

hahaha - great post!

Christmas in London means grey wintery day, slightly less traffic on the roads and really poor christmas light displays hanging feebly from window sills

ha ha ha number Four is awesome. Mommy has seen pictures of them and she totally agrees.

We'd opt for fake snow over the real thing any day. Mommy said it is only pretty until you have to drive on it...

Bummer about the possums and raccoons. Yes, they can be pests but what a terrible way to go.

Mommy works at a small retail botique store so she completely understands number 11. She was ready do commit "Harry Carrey" these last couple of weeks.

We wish number 12 and number 13 would be true all year round.

Happy New Year Muffin! I love the handsome picture of you in our Christmas card. Mommy put in on our piano so I could see it all the time!
